WebJohn C. Lawrence was born in Fleming county, Kentucky, on October 6, 1820, the son of Isaac and Mary (Collins) Lawrence, also natives of Kentucky. The father fought in the War of 1812 and died in 1850. His father, Isaac Lawrence, the paternal grandfather of our subject, with two brothers, William and Benjamin, fought in the War of 1812.
